    Scholarship Program Guidelines and Application

The West Virginia Poultry Association (WVPA) Scholarship Program provides educational scholarship(s) to qualified individuals who meet the requirements outlined herein and apply in accordance with these guidelines. The WVPA Scholarship was established in 2019 to help prepare a new generation of leaders and encourage students to pursue their interests in agriculture or closely related field of study. This is not a mandatory requirement to make an application but those applicants pursuing a field in agricultural studies will receive higher ranking. Scholarships are awarded to those entering or continuing studies at a technical, two-year, or four-year institute and are not limited to institutions within West Virginia.

The funds set for the scholarship program are set annually by the WVPA Board of Directors. Scholarships will be awarded by the Board of Directors based on recommendations from the Scholarship Committee. Applications are carefully reviewed for compliance with submission guidelines, academic achievement, leadership, and community activities.

Eligibility is defined as a WVPA member, child of a WVPA member, or grandchild of a WVPA member.

Scholarship Amount: Up to $3,000 has been allocated for the scholarship funding cycle. Amounts awarded to individual applicants may vary. Should the Committee determine no candidate meets the requirements for the receiving of this scholarship, the Committee reserves the right to withhold the scholarship altogether. The scholarship(s) will be determined no later than June 1 of each year and all applicants will be notified. All completed applications will be considered in conformance with equal opportunity standards. As a condition of receiving a scholarship, applicant’s name(s) may be published as part of promotional materials.
